Building the Right Solutions in the Right Way

On April 28, we teamed up with the Jobs-to-be-Done (JTBD) pioneer Tony Ulwick of Strategyn to host a webinar, “How to build the right solutions—and build them right.”

Over the past 20 years, many companies have adopted the jobs-to-be-done (JTBD) concept as a custom-centric approach to designing new products and services. The adoption of the JTBD brought science to the front end of innovation and allowed companies to predict, with much greater certainly, which new product or service will succeed in the marketplace. One can say that companies should use the JTBD framework to ensure they “build the right solutions.”

JTBD is especially effective when paired with lean innovation, a set of innovation techniques allowing companies to validate the attractiveness of evolving solutions and confirm the viability of emerging business models. In other words, the lean innovation methodology helps companies “build the solutions right.”

During the webinar, we discussed both approaches and presented case studies that showed how applying the JTBD and lean innovation together creates a holistic end-to-end innovation process that can solve the most complex innovation challenges.
